This video series is based on James Knight’s second published 2-Disc DVD Set. It offers approximately half of the 50+ Somatic Movement Flows that are found in his Encyclopedia of Gentle Somatic Yoga. His first 2-Disc DVD Set, titled “Gentle Yoga through Somatic Exploration”, offers the others that are not included in this collection.
Each of the Somatic Movement Flows® (SMFs) in this collection are presented as distinct, stand-alone sequences. However, they can easily be combined as a series into a class or daily practice. These unique SMFs are ideal for overcoming bodily pain and dramatically increasing flexibility through using the healing power of awareness. Muscles are reprogrammed to dissolve chronic pain, dramatically improve flexibility, regain strength, and leave you with an overall sense of peace and wellbeing. Gentle Somatic Yoga® (GSY) incorporates slow, mindful movements that raise bodily awareness to erase old tension-based patterns in the body. GSY is an exploration of movement that is revolutionary in its ability to improve health, well-being, quality of life, and personal performance.
GSY has been synthesized by Integrative Therapist, Yoga Teacher, and Certified Hanna Somatic Educator James Knight, E-RYT. This progressive method seamlessly blends meditation and the art of movement. It is inspired by the work of Eleanor Criswell, Thomas Hanna, Moshe Feldenkrais, and Lawrence Gold.
The movements are designed for all ages and abilities. No previous experience of yoga is necessary.
James Knight, E-RYT has been an Integrative Therapist for over 25 years and is a Certified Hanna Somatic Educator. James facilitates classes, workshops, yoga teacher certifications, and international yoga retreats.
