I love to offer classes that are gentle and mindful. In my Gentle Somatic classes, my students find that checking in before and after a flow lets them know how their bodies can make change even with simple gentle movements. When teaching restorative I love to weave in the teachings of the Eight Limbs of Yoga. In my classes at memory care centers the slow gentle movements of GSY help the residents connect with their bodies and they love the soothing music that accompanies the class. I love to see how the energy of a class changes from where we begin to where we end, helping students ground and find their inner selves is very important and rewarding.
I am currently teaching a Gentle Somatic Yoga class at Yoga Studio Satya in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and will offer a Gentle Somatic Working there in May. I also teach chair yoga classes to residents in memory care. I am also currently assisting in the 300 yoga teacher training at Yoga Studio Satya.
Yoga is a journey, most of us start because we want to have a healthy physical body, and then through the physical classes we are introduced to the “other” teachings of yoga, the Eight Limbs, the Chakras, mindfulness, and meditation. I was so excited to find Gently Somatic Yoga and incorporate it into my own practice and into the classes I teach, I love to use the flows in private sessions to connect clients with specific areas of their bodies. I also really like the mindfulness aspect of GSY because it connects us as whole beings to all parts of us, our body, our mind, and our spirit.
