About GSY Founder, James Knight
James Knight is a Somatic Movement Therapist, E-RYT, Certified Hanna Somatic Educator (Novato Institute for Somatic Research and Training), and Integrative Therapist with over 35 years of experience bridging yoga, somatics, and nervous-system-informed movement. He is one of the early pioneers to integrate somatic education into yoga practice, beginning in the 1990s.
Drawing from decades of study, private practice, and teaching thousands of students worldwide, James founded Gentle Somatic Yoga® as a heart-centered, evidence-informed approach to embodied well-being. His work supports sustainable healing, increased resilience, and a deeper sense of ease and freedom in the body.

This program is heart-informed and evidence-based, offering a comprehensive self-care approach for EVERY body. It is suitable for individuals from all backgrounds and provides the necessary rigor for Yoga Teachers, Yoga Therapists, and Health Care Professionals. Designed by James, these courses aim to empower you with the gifts of self-care and enhance your well-being. Educators and Therapists will be eager to apply their new skills in group classes, workshops, retreats, and personalized one-on-one sessions. CEUs are available.
